National Harbor

Went for the first time last night. Went to Cadillac Ranch for dinner then to Bobby Mckee's afterwards. Pro's and cons....

Cadillac Ranch
  • Nice place. Large and open with plenty of seating.
  • A little noisy as more people arrived.
  • Fun to watch people try to ride the bull.
  • Drinks ridiculously overpriced: My bottle of Sam Adams Oktoberfest $5.75, dates rail screwdriver $7.75
  • 3 friggin beer taps. THAT's IT!! The place is huge and should have a minimum of 7. All they had was Blue Moon, Bud & Bud Light. This was at the lower bar. one bar only had ONE tap. Coors Light.
  • Food was good and reasonably priced. Served within expected time frame and was what we expected. Dates steak was well done (as she requested), mashed taters were good and the string beans were crispy and flavorful. My salmon was delicious as were my mashed taters and beans. No bread!!
  • If they lower their drink prices and include bread with the meal, I'd give it a thumbs up. Right now all I can say is it's an ok place.

Bobby Mckee's
  • Pretty fun place. $5.00 cover charge.
  • Same drink comment. Draft Blue Moon and screwdriver with Absolut $14.75.
  • Piano players.... some great, some not so great.
  • When the guitar and drum guys join, they are great.
  • When the guitar and drummer hop on the piano's, not so great but they get the crowd involved and tell corny jokes.
  • They bring ppl. up on stage and have fun with them. All in good spirit and everybody went along.
  • Very crowded and cramped downstairs. Tables set up chow hall style so don't expect privacy.
  • We went upstairs and if you can get a seat along the balcony, you're golden. Otherwise, you can't see the piano guys.
  • Saw lots of tables with half eaten pizza's and no one was finishing them...hmmmm.
  • They shoot confetti from the ceiling every so often that rains down on the ppl. below.
  • If you're going for good piano and music, you'll be disappointed but if you want a fun time, they deliver.
  • Oh and they have an ice tub filled with bottled water at the door for when you leave.

Ate at Rosa Mexicano a couple of months ago. Really good food, but a bit pricey (lucky for me when we were there the boss paid for everyone). Overlooks the river and WW Bridge. I imagine it would look pretty neat at night.

The whole area should be pretty good once all the construction ends and the place gets a chance to mature a bit.

I forgot to mention that we walked around and it is a very nice atmosphere. The plaza inside the Gaylord with the stream running through is beautiful. I need to go back up during the day.
