TJ Bridge Closures coming up

From Baynet...

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration will perform a routine inspection of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge in southern Maryland, which carries MD Route 4 traffic over the Patuxent River between Calvert and St. Mary’s counties. This work is part of SHA’s rigorous bridge inspection program.
Crews will close a single lane between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the following weekends: October 31 and November 1, November 7 and 8, November 14 and 15 and November 21 and 22, weather permitting. Flagpersons will alternate traffic in one lane of the two-lane bridge. Crews will have two large “snooper” vehicles on site for use during the inspection.
Customers with questions about this project or any other State-numbered routes in southern Maryland may contact SHA’s District 5 Office at 410-841-1020 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

SHA thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation and reminds them to use caution when driving through the work zone.

You don't have to cite them or give them credit. They never cite or credit the photos they steal off the internet.

What does that have to do with the subject line of this thread?

I think the bridge inspections can only happen when the weather is ok -- they posted the signs and everything yesterday but the bridge did not, as far as I know (I went over it three times), go to one-lane / alternating direction mode.

Since it is raining today I bet the bridge will be normal mode today as well.

And don't think it can't happen again, either. Ferry service or driving "the long way" will be the only option. The market in "hoopty" cars will be brisk! I saw somewhere that Pax established a ferry landing for base workers back in 1988? I would hope something similar would be made available.

Yea, me too; As long as they make you pay to use it and not stick everyone with the bill(unless of course they create a ferry to take me to Lusby everyday from St. Marys)

They do this major inspection every 3 or 4 years.
