I'm Curious

what compels a person to drive in the right turn lane all the way from the light at Expedition/Exploration, to go to the Wawa. Traffic is not heavy or backed up, moving smoothly, no wait. Can someone who does this please explain the logic in interupting turning vehicles or barreling up behind them?

To get the last Buffalo Chicken wrap at the Wawa before someone else does?

Then it would be faster to use the regular lane, so nobody slows down to turn in front of you.

They have to get there before gas prices go up....maybe. Or they're just stupid.

Because they're so used to using that lane when there IS traffic that it's just second nature to them now. To them, that is a lane.

I love it when they run that right hand lane on the northbound side of 235 in front of Kmart. They run right through the light in the turn lane to beat everyone to rt 4. And there's that big sign there that reads, Right lane must turn right. Duh. People can't read anymore.

You know, if only there were someone whose job it was to enforce the traffic laws, you know people charged with issuing citations to folks operating vehicles in an unsafe manner. They could run laps from Gate 1 up to San Souci all day, writing citations for improper lane use, and grab a few bonus ones for idiots coming out of Navy Federal and just going straight across to make a U-turn, instead of going south.

Sadly, the only folks we have spend most traffic enforcement time just citing speeders.

I love the guys that completely bypass the right turn lane and the long line of traffic for Rt 4N from 235N, pull up to the light in the right-most straight-thru lane, and turn right, cutting everyone else off that had been patiently waiting their turn!

I think you'll feel much better when you just lower your expectations.

For example:
Expect that people will go straight when they are in a turning lane and that they will turn when they're not. Expect that people will drive in a turning lane for miles. Expect that people will turn without using a signal and use a signal when they have no intention of turning. Expect that when signs and markings indicate one should merge, one will instead stop and when someone is to stop, he or she will instead yield.

If you just lower your expectations, as I have, then all these things will just become less bothersome to you. In fact, you may even start to be pleasantly surprised when someone does the right thing!

It has nothing to do with expectations. I'm curious what compels one to do it.
