| Help fill Mike's Bikes Bus This so cool of Mike to do and if you don't know sponsors alot of the local kids in BMX racing he takes them all over the place. Please Help Us Fill Mike’s Bus and Distribute Holiday Dinners Each year, Mike’s Food Fund in Lexington Park provides needy families in St. Mary’s County with a turkey dinner for the Christmas Holidays. Typically, the Fund delivers over 1000 meals to those who might not otherwise be able to afford a holiday dinner for their families. This year, the Fund has been especially hard hit by the slow economy – due to layoffs and the recession the need has risen significantly. This year it is expected that over 1500 families will be requiring assistance. To help try to meet this need, the Food Fund is asking the community to help it fill Mike’s large green bus with the canned goods that are used for the meals. They are looking for canned green beans and corn, or monetary donations for them. A case of green beans or corn is approximately $ 10.00, and each will contribute to 12 meals. By filling the bus with the canned goods, the Fund can use other donations it receives to provide the turkeys and the potatoes for the dinners. New, unwrapped toys are also appreciated – many of the families in need have no other means by which to provide their children gifts. In order for the community to have easy access to the bus, it will be parked at the following locations during the week of December 7th. December 7-11th – In the Re/Max parking lot across from Giant in California, MD – Hours 9-4 December 12th –At Mike’s Bikes, Great Mills Road, Lexington Park – Hours 9-4 December 13th – In the Wal-Mart parking lot, California, MD – Hours 10-4 From December 15-18th, the meals will be distributed by volunteers. The initial distribution location is the Zion United Methodist Church, located on Route 235, between Gates 2 and 3 of Patuxent River, NAS. There are approximately 50 routes which need volunteers for delivery, as well as volunteers at the church to help package up the dinners for delivery. The times are 5:00-7:30 pm each evening. If you would like to know more about donating to the Fund, to help Fill Mike’s Bus or to volunteer to help package or deliver the dinners, please call Brigid Kenney at (301) 481-1233, e-mail: brigid@motovationcycles.com, Idolia Shubrooks at (301) 863-2150 or Mike at Mike’s Bikes (301) 863-7887
