My poor guys were out for 21 hours straight, no break, then came home, slept for 6 hours and were out again for another 9.5 hours. While everyone else was safe and warm in their houses, watching the snow fall at trememdous rates, my husband and his employee were out trying to make it possible for at least the emergency vehicles to make it to your houses if need be. Today, during the daylight hours, they went out again to redo their routes to make it possible for you all to go to work tomorrow. They hate having to plow your driveways closed, it's not what they want, but can't worry about your one driveway. My husband has a huge developement community with hundreds of homes and if he were caught opening up one or any driveway, the county would D/C his contract. They aren't paying him to open driveways. So I suggest you wait until the snow has finished, the plows have gone by and then go after your driveways. Oh, and BTW, don't push your driveways snow out into the roads! Your neighbors might not like it too much.
I wasn't pinging on them by any means. I used to work for DPW, so I know EXACTLY what your hubby is going thru. I was on the receiving end of all the nasty phone calls. All I said was that Penn, who posts on here and is President of some HOA in CRE (I think), said the roads in CRE or some of them were cleared. I know what your hubby and you are going thru. I always try to make the guys at DPW something special and take it over to them. I am sure they are exhausted but sounds like they have pulled St. Mary's off the roads tonight. I don't blame them. Poor guys (and gals) that drive those plows take a LOT of abuse.

We don't have the CRE's contract. We are in St. Mary's. My Daughter lives in the CRE, though. Those roads are a snow plow nightmare. You'd be surprised at how many ppl come out (on our routes) shaking their fists at the plow drivers because the snow covered their driveway entrance. So many ppl will offer him money to plow them out and he has to refuse, but they dont' get it. Don't get me wrong, the pay is good for snow removal, but then again, I'm the one that has to drive out in the storm to refuel the loaders, and then "hold the fort down" at home, digging out with only my daughter to help. We live on a small farm and have animals that need tending and we also help out our neighbors dig out while the husband's gone. We all just need a little more patience and we will get through this winter. I am not looking forward to doing this again on Tuesday, though... enough is enough!

Yeah, there are alot of ppl mad this time for loss of mailboxes. This snow was so heavy, that just rolling it over with the plows was taking out the mailboxes. I'm sure there are times when they actually do, come too close, but it's all the heavy snow's fault this time.

Yeah, I made them cupcakes for ours and another crew during one of their breaks and they really appreciated that. Used to be, ppl in the neighborhoods would offer hot chocolate, or coffee, etc. to the drivers, but that hasn't happened in awhile. :-/ Too bad.

I understand the CRE's got quite a bad reputation for ignoring issues these days. Seems like there's always something going on there that makes the radio talk shows(heather and tbone).

considering the amount of snow we got, I think all is good. I live on a main road and was able to finally get out today. take it slow and you should be good to go.

:Fail:

While your husband and his crew were redoing roads (no doubt roads that important people live on), some of us haven't seen a snowplow since December. Good thing nobody in our area needed emergency care. Their deaths would be on your heads.

You can't put this on any of the drivers. You need to go haunt DPW management and dispatch should you drop dead. Sounds like you already fell and bumped your head. I'll chock you post up to a blood clot in the brain.

We still haven't seen a plow on our road. They did the same thing to us last year.
