SMIBs mentioned on Michelle Malkin dot com

Okay, maybe not SMIBs, but CRE was mentioned in context of environmental whack jobs destroying part of the Ranch Estates because of a (mythical?) beetle:
Michelle Malkin » About that “Green Police” Super Bowl ad

Well I thought I was hallucinating when I saw a homeowner on TV talking about losing his home on the Maryland shore to erosion because the “greenies” won’t let him and his neighbors reinforce the cliffs. Why? Because of the endangered Puritan Tiger Beetle.

Residents of Chesapeake Ranch Estates, which has some prime real estate offering picturesque views of the bay, no longer visit the slim beaches beneath the cliffs because a 12-year-old girl was killed by a landslide in 1996. Last month, the property owners’ association closed a portion of one of the subdivision’s streets because the road is now just 25 feet from the cliff’s edge.
So why would the government endanger human life and property rather than disturb a beetle?

“I would equate the loss of the Puritan tiger beetle with the loss of the polar bear,” said Michael Raupp, an entomologist at the University of Maryland in College Park. “If it had fur and a cute smile and were the size of a cat, people would be more concerned about the loss of this thing.”
Short answer: They don’t care about you and me — no wild imagination required.

And this ladies and gentlemen is what we've come to. An insects life is more important than a humans. I hope all the animal, greenie and insect kooks are happy. Maybe they'll be forced to leave their home one day because there might be a bug or a turtle nearby. Wouldn't that be great?

Hell, lets go all out in the whacky department. Lets outlaw roach killer, all insect sprays, mouse traps etc. Then they can mandate that we all put signs out in front of our houses that read "All Nature of Insect, Rodent and Beast Welcome Here". Of course you will have to have the sign printed in all languages so that they call all read it.

Regardless of the beetle...there is no way to remedy the cliff issue at CRE.

Stabilizing the cliffs will not stop the erosion

Are you missing the point where they are saying a "supposed, unseen" beetle is worth more than a human. If it was your property eroding away, would you just say "ok".

Maybe you weren't here years back when there was constant terrible accidents and deaths on Indian Bridge Road, and the greenies halted the improvement of it because the "Narrow Mouth Toad" MAY live in the ditches. The idiots had not even seen one!!!

I wouldn't buy property on top of an eroding cliff and expect other people to care about my problem

The beetle is not unseen. It can be seen anywhere along CRE cliffs during the summer and fall months.
