To the bozos...

who think its fun to set the handle lock on the gas pump when putting it back in the slot. And before anyone says its maybe an accident, it cant be. If you use the handle lock, it clicks off when full.

If I catch you, you can get a free fill up of 93 octane. Pick any orifice. Almost got me. I usually catch this sooner, but this time, as I pulled the nozzle free, it was tangled with the 89 octane hose, so I was unraveling that with one hand, while flipping up the lever with the other.

When I do so, I felt the slightest vibration in the handle, telling me fuel was flowing. Got lucky clicked it off in time, and was pointing towards the pump, so that only about 1/2 cup escaped, and it went onto the bottom half of the pump, not on me or my car.

Do the azzholes who do this sort of thing think someone may have a kid out there with Daddy who could get a gasoline shower? Or just assume that such a dangerous prank could never cause any harm?

Sheets on 235 and Chancellor's Run has levers. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

But yeah -- don't flip the lever til the fuel is in there. Then you don't have to worry about it!

Not a good idea to get your kids out of the car while you're pumping. That's just asking for all kinds of trouble scenarios.

Hmmm.......few things i wanna touch on here.
One, i never imagined that this was even possible.
Two, i can't remember the last time i used a gas pump that didn't have a lock on the pump handle. If you had asked me, i would have sworn that all of them did.
And three........what was three? oh, believe it or not, there are millions and millions and millions of people who couldn't care less about your kids, my kids or even their own kids so if this is even possible, which i will give you the benefit of the doubt that it is, i'm sure there are people who get a kick out of it and probably are parked somewhere nearby laughing at the next person who uses the pump that they sabotaged.
And for the record, the pump handle is always in my tank before i even select which fuel i want.

Yep, mine too. For the very reason that I don't want excess spilling all over.

Well lets see. I usually remove gas cap, swipe card, remove nozzle, check nozzle, select grade, insert into car then activate pump. Am I doing it wrong???

I don't turn anything on until the pump is in the tank.

glhs listed quite a few things that were just...dumb. sure it's a mean prank and i understand the point of the message, but between selecting the fuel before it's in the gas tank, having kids walkin around, AND telling pranksters how to stump him next time...
