10 oz. Beer

You know, my boyfriend asked me to run out and pick up a 12pk of beer, and I'm not a beer drinker, but thought, OK, can't really mess this up. Well..........needless to say, I didn't get 10oz. cans, and they looked at me as if I had 3 eyes coming out of my head. Guess I learned from that mistake.

Well, who the hell wants to be called "inbred?" I understand that longtime residents consider it almost as bad as blacks consider the N-word.

Now, I know that blacks often use the N-word jokingly among themselves, partly to defang its meaning. But I've never heard locals use SMIB among themselves as a joke.

Using the SMIB word at Toot's Bar or Pennie's or Anderson's Bar is the fastest way to get your azz kicked.

I suggested those because the "imports" (including me) don't frequent those places. Most of the newcomers I know go to the Solomons bars.

You have it 100% correct. It is as bad as the N word, yet it hasn't gained the attention and status of that phrase. Though in one court case I know of a man accused of assault had the charges dismissed because it is what is refered to as "fighting words" and that is what the victim had called the man. The judge looked at the victim and said he was lucky to only lose one tooth.
