Question To St. Mary's County Natives

Dear St. Mary's County Natives and other persons interested:
I was hoping to know if anyone had ever heard or have information pertaining to the death of Francis Abell Woodburn. Mr. Woodburn was killed in 1982 by a hit and run accident on the southbound side of Rt. 5 before Leonardtown Middle and High Schools. However, in 1993 two men were arrested and charged with the murder of Francis "Sam" Woodburn. The two men weren't charged with a hit and run death. They were charged with beating him to death in the alley way of Town Inn of Leonardtown and dumping his body in the said location. If anyone would have any information pertaining to this I would be eternally grateful. I am writing about it for a class that I am dealing with in law.

Thanks again,
J.D.

Serious question - are the court & police records sealed? Why can't you go to the courthouse and request the official info? Why would you want to go on hear say for a so called paper. Are you you just looking for opinions?

Yes. I wanted to know if there was something that the community could add, if that included the online community. I have the best resources to write this paper, but I wanted to hear feedback from where I could. I have already looked at and viewed the case files many times over. I just wanted to hear what the community had to say. I find it interesting that something like this is touchy to a community such as ours. The case has long since been closed for the past ten years. However, something so public seems so touchy. I find it interesting sometimes that St. Mary's seems like the epitome of a Southern community. LOL.
To remain focused on the subject. I am doing mainly a narrative story about the trial and the events that took place since 1982. It is a long term project.

Good luck. I didn't even know about this. I hope you find out more.

The men that were accused are my boyfriend's uncle and father. His uncle was found innocent and his father was acquitted. The man that was killed was also known as White Cloud and was my uncle's cousin.
