Cost to make a will?

Does anyone know about how much it cost to get a will made?
Had any local lawyers prepare one? Recommendations?

I'd recommend Dan Slade or Norris(in Leonardtown) not sure of his first name but he does it.

I saw some of the on-line services. I wonder if they would hold up if challenged in court.

Absolutely. Unless you have tons of assets and have some complicated way of "dividing" everything, no need to pay an attorney.

Same with your Advanced Directives, etc. ..get them online.

My father used a lawyer in leonardtown and for the life of me I can't remember her name. We paid under $200. We used a lawyer mainly for the peace of mind to make sure everything was exactly what he wanted.

Estate planning lawyer, about $200 to $300 or so. I will know more when I get the bill as I am in the process of doing this now. If you are active duty military or retired military, base legal will do it for you.

The problem with having base legal or a jag office is that if the will is ever challenged, how would you locate them to discuss intent, mental capacity, free will etc.

I'm not a lawyer. That's why I'm having mine done by a lawyer, but as far as base legal or a JAG office....there's always one around. Not necessarily the person that drafted your will, but the office is always manned.
