So why are they always trying to run away? Set it free and see if it keeps coming back.

Why do people chop the tails of dogs and rip cats nails out? What about clipping ears? Did they ask?

well funny how you had to misdirect what I said an mention the tub that another poster mentioned - just shows what kind of person you are.

I think several small dog breeds are scary - gee imagine THAT. Like I said if we eliminated all the breeds we have reservations about, there would not be any more dogs. Sounds like you don't like dogs anyway, so life would be good for YOU then?

If you think it is ok for someone to carry around a machine gun in the open, then it is ok to walk around with a threatening looking dog. Dog's invoke fear in a lot of people. Some justified, some not. You are making a statement about yourself with your dog. You can, it is what we do. I have been bite by loose dogs (German Shepherd, Doberman and a good old Wiener dog) that were loose. The Wiener dog was scary because I was a little kid just riding my bike. All three were not provoked and without warning. Lucky none of the bites were serious, but if I reacted differently, it could have been with the German Shepherd and the doberman.

Dogs were created on purpose to live with and help humans. Other humans were not. What a ridiculous comparison. I hope you feel kinda dumb for posting it. And I don't do anything cosmetic to my animals. And I have never, ever had a pet that ran away.

No surprise, and there is the problem.

Sorry, I did not have that same attitude about our dog. I understood others fear and tired to keep her away from threatening others including other dogs. Two dogs growling at each other even when they are on leashes out for a walk is threatening to a small child.

Dog choices, owners attitudes and responsibility of the pet (including curbing on others property) tells a lot about the owner and the purpose of the dog.

He was not trained to do that, it was his instinct. What is crazy is that type of dog needed cold weather to be happy. I have seen a couple around here. Poor dogs with stupid owners. I actually think it is cruel and stupid for people keep animals that are not in their natural habitat. Your decision to keep a pet locked up in your house while you are at work or not allow to roam free is pretty cruel to the pet, but then the pet does not have free will like you do. Your decision to keep a pet is actually enslaving it. You can call it what you want, but you are making a selfish decision about animals for your own satisfactions.
Yep, my Mal looks real tortured being in the house. I guess I need to ship her to the Artic so she can run free and be happy.

Fear breeds hate. Some people are just big ol' kitty cats I guess.

I agree the neighbor should have called and discussed it.
Just to play devil's advocate here (and sorry if somebody already pointed this out, but I only made it halfway through this cluster - F thread ), but there IS more to the story - Forget about whether it's a Pit or a Pomeranian, the point is that it's an unsupervised animal outside all day. That's generally not good for either the dog, or it's neighbors. It's just a waiting game until something happens, and you don't know what it will be until it does.

Frankly, if I was the neighbor, I'd be way more pissed off about the yapping pugs than the pit, presuming that the pit is even remotely good tempered.
