Years ago I went to a salon to get my nails done. Needless to say, I'll never ever have them done again. I developed some kind of green fungus. Upon going back to the salon to show them what happened, she offered me a free bottle of half-empty "nair porish".

Here are some links to articles I've found. Dateline or 20/20 did a show a few years back about the health risks associated with these places, but I can't find it. Here are others....

Dangers Lurk in Dirty Salons
Hair and Nail Salons Linked to Infectious Diseases
Nail Salon Nightmares

*Note* - Not all nail salons are plagued, I just choose to never take that chance again!

I have a friend that is setting me up on a blind date, I was thinking of having my back shaved for the occasion. Does any one know of a good place for this?

Sorry Em but that "green fungus" you developed was probably a result of there being a pocket of moisture between the acrylic and your nail bed. It doesn't have anything to do with dirty tools. But it does have a lot to do with a poor job being done.

Dunno, but that fungus is enough to keep me away from those places! It developed in about 6 of my fingers, so I'm not buying the moisture deal. Cleanliness is definitely not their top priority!
