I have to admit, if I needed to move into a lane where a motorist on ANY vehicle was hindering it, would not allow me in and will not speed up to open it up, I really only have a few choices - speed up, slow down or force the issue. If I can't reasonably do the first two and the motorist is antagonizing me, I'm strongly tempted to try option three.

Uhhh isn't it safer to slow down and get over at your convenience and not at the expense of others by speeding or forcing the issue, I can see you wrecked and in the hospital already. Everyone thinks they are more important than the next person on the road, psychological thing I guess.

I am sure that once she jerked back to the left when he rolled his trottle up and down that he assumed she knew he was there at that point.

The stupid thing is that within a few hundred feet the Explorer was going to move into the left turn lands for Gate 1 anyway. It just seemed usless to thing she was gaining any sort of traffic advantage at the point. Most likely she cut someone else off so she could get back into the left lane so she could enter the turn lanes.
Defensive drivers never assume, it makes an a$$ out of u and me. The first mistake was made by her, the second time it was his mistake! Defensive driving isn't being taught any more to our new drivers. I'm teaching my boys defensive driving ever day at a young age so when they start driving, it will be the normal way to drive! Making the mistake of assuming, esp. on a bike, could be your last!

Google Maps

There were two right turn lanes to go north on 235. They had three lanes on 235 to enter. SHA just yesterday afternoon made that rightmost straight ahead lane into a right turn also lane. So, its now three lanes into three lanes. But because folks don't pay attnetion to lane markings, they were not expecting those people to turn with them.

From what I understand, this was in the works, but no date set, so the base had no chance for advance notification of the change. There should also have been warnings posted that a new traffic pattern was in effect, but I dont know if that was done.
Short history, there are two lanes coming out on Buse Rd. For years the base put traffic cones up to allow the left lane to move to the left most "right turn" lane. Then they took them down. People in the right most lane stopped "staying right" and forced out the people in the left lane. It was ridiculous, people were lined up back through the light in the right lane but the left lane was almost empty - half the people were getting through the lights on Buse Rd.

Witrh the addition of the third right turn lane is it gong to be a repeat of the morning - will people line up in a single lane (the right) and then spread to all three turn lanes? In the morning the left most turn lane on 235 will be backed up onto the highway while the right most is half full. When drivers get to the light the left lane sprays into the left most 3 of the 4 inbound lanes. Actually I've seen drivers in the left most lane head to the far right lane. It's some sort of entitlement.

On a side note, YOU ONLY DO THIS WHEN I HAVE 2 KIDS IN THE TRUCK WITH ME

But normally, I do not get over, I just straight let off the gas pedal, wait for them to get over, then speed back up to make sure they get a full view of the finger, if they can see over my door

Either they have a HUGE amount of faith in their reaction time or they don't understand the physics of a compact car vs a 6000+ lb truck w/a reinforced bumper (compare heights of the bumper of the truck to the car). If the truck hits the brakes, yer screwed....

Well, at lunchtime, I saw the SHA guys actually modifying the outbound signal light, I assume to add a dedicated right turn arrow for that third lane. Should make it right.

I've been driving a miata for over 10 years now and an MX3 for 5 years before that, so I'm aware of other driver's blindspots when it comes to my car. I do what I can to stay out of those spots - not always possible, but I've had enough close calls with people not seeing me to drive little car defensively. I only wish that the bigger vehicles would recognize that when they drive too close to me, they block my vision.

I'm smart enough realize who is going to win the vehicular argument, so while I tend to drive too fast, I don't scoot in front on larger vehicles as a light turns red and I get out of the lane when possible when I see someone driving faster coming up on me in my lane. It's not always possible to move over. I just wish the asshat on my bumper realized that I'm not intimidated by the size of his vehicle, he's not scaring me, and I CANT move over as long as he's that close and while I do drive fast, I'm not going to speed up to his desired speed. 301 south in the morning is the autoban.

explain this. Some of us might do these things and have no clue we are doing it.

Improperly adjusted side-view mirrors make it really easy to identify the people to watch out for on the road. If I'm sitting behind someone at a stoplight and I can see their face in their side-view mirror, I know I'm looking at the face of a moron.
