But are they striking against their company (Lockheed Martin on 235) or are they striking against Pax NAS (Gate 3)?

I seriously doubt they are striking against Pax NAS. If they are, then they are huge idiots, because Pax NAS is a government machine and bodies can be replaced easily.

Logically, it makes more sense to strike at the company location. To be seen and heard. A strike is about putting pressure on a company. You can't put the pressure on if you are out of sight and out of mind. You need publicity and you need the public support. A Gate 3 location will get you none of that.

Sure I'll go with you and hand out goodies.

We are - sure - on this chat forum. But I searched yesterday, and couldn't find a single blimp in news coverage about it. I also don't know why they are striking. There was no advance coverage - nothing. I know when there was just a possibility of a strike with DynaCorp (sp?) a while back, there was a lot of coverage.

I'm not with a Union, but I know how they operate and what the purpose of one is. I think this Union has handled things such as organizing, using news coverage, and locating the protestors, badly IMHO.

Sure, but not here.

I wonder how many contracts Lockheed will be able to win through competition over the next several years by giving 3% a year with the DoD budget being shrunk and competition getting so intense? Interesting.

Silly me. I was searching Southern Maryland news yesterday morning. I stopped caring after that. Then in this case, I still say the workers should strike at the Lockheed Martin location.

My boss and I were talking at length about this. He believes that because the LM building is rented, not owned by LM, that there is a probable conflict with landlord regulations, and one likely prohibits gatherings/strikes on the property.

:dunno:

They are fools to turn down the offer they got. 3%/year increase, $3000 signing bonus, 14% additional increase in their company supplied pension benefits..... Shoot, if I could repair planes, I'd take it....
