Neither here nor there.

What does this mean? How can something be neither here nor there? If that was true it would be nothing. Then again, there really is no such thing as nothing, at least no one has seen any, so it must be something which would mean it has to be somewhere. So where is it? Everywhere? I would think it to be impossible to be everywhere at once.

Not settled, but not important. (Unless you want to get into the Physics implied).

OOOH! Are we gonna get a physics lesson today? KEWL!

But.....wouldn't this be more of a philosophical issue? Like, 'if a tree falls in the forest; and there's no one around; does it make a sound?'

No physics lesson if I can help it.

Now for a twisted reply:

Question:

Answer:
Well that's neither here nor there, but the point is the silly thing fell and nobody was there to hear it.

That's fine for something to be neither here nor there, but where is it? It can't be nowhere, because there's no such place as nowhere. Everything is somewhere. And we only care about where it is, not where it's not.

It's like the question of, "Who did this?" and people pipe up with, "Not me." Okay, I didn't ask who didn't do this, I asked who DID do it.

But if you clearly establish where it's not, you are left with where it is!

So, said fallen tree DID make a sound. It had to have made a sound.
It's a solid object.

You are assuming that the entire universe is covered by the terms "here" and "there". Maybe there is another place that falls outside of both of these areas.

This is an easy one to anyone who has ever done an account reconciliation which should be ALL of you.

If it is neither here nor there, it is, most likely in transit. If it doesn't show up here or there in the next 20 business days, it is most likely lost which means, even though it is not here nor there, it could be ANYWHERE else besides here or there.

You're welcome.

It's funny that that is always the first answer you get.
