Hitchhiker

If you are ever driving on 235 and see an old guy hitchhiking at Spring Ridge School, please do not hesitate to pick him up. His name is John and he is usually going to Lexington Park to one of the churches who feed him (obviously) northbound, or going (South) to the Rod & Reel or Ridge Market for a pack of smokes or to catch the St. Mary's bus.

He is harmless and always asks God to Bless you after you drop him off.

I see him all the time and feel bad that I don't stop. I'm female and usually travel alone or with my teenage daughter with me. I made a decision a long time ago not to ever pick-up hitch hikers; it's just too risky.

He may be harmless, but he has an odor about him that will stay in your vehicle for days. (reminds me of a Seinfeld episode) I suggest you let him ride in the back of the pickup....

I agree with you. I learned from a very young age not to trust strangers, especially hitchhikers. Born & raised in NY, we're just not as trusting up there I guess. It's sad because someone could be a great person and genuinely need help and few people will stop to help.

Case in point......I almost got carjacked and god-knows-what else when I stopped because someone was laying in a dark roadway late at night. There was nobody else around. She looked hurt and waved at me to stop. I stopped but didn't get outta my car, I was about to call 911 when 2 guys ran outta the woods toward my car and she hopped up. I sped away, almost running her over, and the cops told me that was a scam going on lately.

I trust nobody until I get to know them. Sad but true. I'm sure this guy is a good guy but sadly, most of us will never get to know that.

I always seem to have space in my truck, I would be honored to lend him a hand and a ride.
With todays economy, any of us could be him. +++
His name is John and he goes to churches, and askes God to Bless me?
Sound like something I read in a book !

Thank you for making all of us aware of his plight.

He's a leprechaun, capture him and make him tell you where his gold is hidden.

No, it's not. Only on limited access highways and toll roads.

It's ok as long as you do not stand in the roadway. Shoulders are OK,
Genius.
