Stuffed Animal Donations?

Can anyone tell me where to donate my daughter's stuffed animals that are brand new? She gets them and go straight into a box. I have a trashbag full now and will have more by weeks end. I would love for them to go to some kids in need. Thanks

The local police use them to give to children who they come across in the line of duty. Same with fire/rescue.

I do know a lot of places will not accept stuffed animals because of all the germs/lice/fleas etc that can be associated with them.

I would still check with the womens/children abuse shelters though and see if they have a policy about them. It would be worth the call to find out. I'm sure those kids would love some toys to call their own.

If you do find a place that accepts them, please post. I have some to donate as well.

Definitely don't throw them away. Some places won't take stuffed animals but a lot of places still will. Look at independent thrift stores, etc.

I used to give them to my cousin who was with Leonardtown Rescue Squad and she would take them to St. Mary's Hospital for the little kids when they were brought into the ER. She doesn't volunteer anymore though.

I would check to see an animal shelter or kennel might have use for any that are too old or worn for a child to enjoy?

dont know if they will risk the chance of the pet chewing it up.. and then end up having to put the pet to sleep due to a foreign body surgery

Exactly what I was going to say. My son donated one of his brand new stuffed animals to the Mechanicsville rescue squad last year, they seemed happy to put in on their ambulance to give to a sick or injured child.
