So the sign says the new hours effective 1 Oct 12 are

Open 5:30am to 8:30am

Open 15:30pm to 17:00pm


Great.

So no more Gate 3 lunch going.

No more running late for whatever reason and expecting to come in Gate 3.

Best of all, if you work until 5pm, and are South County commuters, you have to add in an extra 30 minutes to get home. Considering all the folks that work until 5pm on the back side of the base and go out Gate 3, it appears that the powers that be don't factor you in at all.

You're gonna be SOL if you're not out of Gate 2 or 1 prior to 1600. Lucky you don't have to go across the bridge. It sucks.

I think it starts 1 October.

Decision probably made by the same idiot that will not give decals, only temporary vehicle passes, to contractors that are mostly off-base but require base access for job related business.

You know, if they could actually show a significant savings in manpower and $, then I wouldn't mind this so much, but my guess is police and security staffing remain at the same level. Didn't they learn anything when they did this during the holidays and caused massive problems at the other gates. Rediculous.

How about short staffing the pass offices? What used to take 5 minutes now takes 45. A lot of the people are still on the clock. Same for the back gate - this doesn't just affect the commute, it also affects the people who are travelling between work places during the day.

They may save a couple of man years in the pass office and security, but they are probably adding ten times that labor in increased travel time and pass office waiting.

Pass Office at Webster is only open one day a week now too..
