The McKay family owns the building in Charlotte Hall that they are vacating.
It is too small for them to expand the way they need to in order to compete with the national brands (Safeway & Giant).
If I recall correctly, they are now part owners of the new shopping center going in "across the street".
New location, while barely a 1/4 mile down the road, is much better located for getting commuters coming out of the commuter lots before heading home. It will draw more business than their current location.
They already have a tenent for the old store. Some sort of "national clothing retailer" from what I have heard.
In other words, they will get income from the old building while doing more business in the new location.

Kinda funny to me that folks would be angry and withhold patronizing a business beccause it makes some strategic relocation choices.

We got our traditional holiday decorating meal there - cheese, sausage, cracker fruit - we had an incredible sampling of cheeses: smoked gouda, mango ginger white stilton, cranberry mascarpone, maple bacon cheddar, brie and horseradish. Yum yum.

And before the chick filet critics show up - I only live 20 mins away and neither I nor anyone I know has anything to do with the store. :)

This is hilarious. Do you expect a store to stay open to serve a customer? This is an Obama mentality. Stores stay open to make money. That's IT. In return they offer product to people. Open and shut. If that store was profitable I have no doubt it would stay open for business.

The store in Wildewood was in sad shape. The only way they could make that store look busy was to only have one cashier on duty (and then be away from the register).

The times I stopped in there for a last minute item I don't recall it being blue hair central. Sorry to say the busiest store in that center is the liquor store.
