okay, left lane speeders, your turn in the barrel

So, took a trip up to Prince Frederick Dental today, and a thing that has been bothering me sort of gelled. People, we all know we should wait til the "left lane bandit" has a clear chance to get over to let you pass, right? Only good manners, of course.

Well, if someone does that, and gets over for you, it's incumbent upon you, the person passing to get it over with in a forthright fashion. Leaving that person in the right lane while you get past them at a +1mph differential, keeping them bottled up so that they then get slowed down by the right lane traffic is just inconsiderate.

I'm not suggesting you go WOT and make the pass at +90, but don't just lingeringly creep past, especially after you were 4 feet off the first cars bumper. Get past so the nice person who just moved over for you can get back in the left lane and move the pace they would like to, like they just enabled you to do.

I use my cruise control alot and notice when I get over to pass someone they often speed up. If I get in front of them they will speed up even more and pass me right back only to slow to their original speed. Probably wouldnt be as noticable if I did not have my cruise on so I know Im going the exact same speed the entire time.

I've experienced the same thing, wind up passing the same person multiple times

Yep, get that all the time. Cruising at 64, car approaches from the rear, get over, they pass, get back over, only to have them slow to 62 or so? WTH?

My brother admits he can't stand having a car in front of him - he passes everyone.

Also, while you're using the cruise control, so you're not guilty of it, but a lot of times the original person in the left lane gets passed because they're going 55 then 57 then 60 then 55 then 63 then 57. They get passed and then they sort of "wake up" and wonder why someone passed them only to go 61. I usually keep my cc set at 61 or 62 once I'm out of town and it seems I'm always having to adjust for someone whose speed is fluctuating, so I like to get past them.

They get out front then realize THEY are the rabbit..

They were ok speeding as long as YOU were the rabbit, but once they get out front, not such a good idea anymore.

That is a normal reaction I guess, I see that all the time too as you pass them on the right they speed up so you can't get in the left lane and then your blocked in again and they slow down. Who can explain why this is??????

This annoys me, especially on long trips because you end up playing this game of leap-frog for miles. I've found that regardless of what speed they're going, some people just don't like to be passed.

There are a lot of dumbasses driving on our highways.
Lawyers have made stupidity profitable instead of financially debilitating so in effect we have subsidized ignorance
