It is a huge pet peeve for hubby. He's from NY and people have died from accidents caused by ice/snow from other cars flying off and hitting their car.

5) If its light enough to fly up in the air as you stated it is not hard and will not cause any damage, put on your big boy/girl pants and suck it up. Being frightened by some light snow is the same as swerving to miss a squirrel and causing a major accident.
allow me to interject here if I might.
Wife got hit by a block of snow/ice coming off a SUV a few years back.
Took out the grill, hood, drivers side fender and the windshield.
the 6k in repairs were most likely worth the time that the POS saved.
Hint.
I get a ladder and climb up to clear the top of my truck before I pull out of the driveway.
I dont suck up stupidity and lazy ass drivers.
Just saying

Whoa! That is some major damage. So glad your wife wasn't injured; it is surprising she wasn't hurt, so thank goodness. I always clean off the top of my car, and I need a tall ladder for that! I know getting ice off the top of a car isn't easy, but the de-icer products work fairly well.

Have your SUV/Van/jumbo RAM pickup. I love them. Just take the time to clear them off.

Dean lumber lost some ice off the back of his truck this morning right beside me on Rt 4....the dog lost her skin and the SUV behind the truck almost caused a 6 car pile up beside me....morning runs are getting interesting

I clear my vehicles (to include my big truck) because I've seen ice dislodge from a vehicle and cause massive damage to other vehicles/people/property....it's worth the extra 10 minutes of time in order to make sure you haven't killed someone

I like to drive really fast through the neighborhood and let everything blow off while there are no cars behind me. Problem solved.

Realistically you can't expect semis, schoolbuses, the STS bus, delivery vans etc to clean off the top of their vehicles, just isnt going to happen. You can wish in one hand and #### in the other, see which one gets full faster.

People follow too closely, everybody has done it and some have regretted it.

I'm betting the people killed in New York state due to ice/snow had a lot more to do with them freaking out and running into someone that the actual snow hitting them. A couple years ago I got hit with a big sheet of snow that came off the top of a semi on I-68 near Frostburg, I swear that sheet of snow was bigger than my vehicle, it hit, made one hell of a noise and took a second for my windshield to clear but I got through it because I didnt freak out and run off the side of the mountian. It is exactly the same thing as hitting a deer, dont try to avoid the thing and cause a 30 car pileup, just hit the damn deer.
