I would guess it would also have to do with unemployment requirements. When I did the hiring for my old employer, we used to get so many applicants during down times in the economy. We received resumes from experienced engineers, etc for clerical positions

But yes, it's tough out there.

I've seen reductions in force where I work, and just last year 1/3 of the work force was laid off. It is scary to think about possibly having to live off of unemployment for an extended period of time. I can barely pay my bills now, so without my full net salary I'd be in a bad place for sure.

Even when I have a job I still look for jobs if the current one does not seem stable for long term in this contract world. Just applied for a job with the FBI, coming to bust you soon for illegal activities.

Well it appears you need a new job with all the time you have to post here lol. Illegal activities? Not hardly, it's quieter here than a Church on a Monday morning lol... at least a church with no day care operating.

I know that I need various versions etc. It's just when I sit down at the computer to do it or even write it on paper first my brain becomes tongue tied for some reason. I can write reports, briefs and letters all day long but resumes and cover letters I just plain ole suck at them. Thanks for the input my fellow Ridgenite
Another tip or two- do NOT put References available upon request on your resume. I was told that is too 'old hat' - implied, etc.
99.9% of employers do NOT want phone calls, walk-in's etc.
Also, be aware of your perfume - too much and you wont even be considered.
There are some great webistes out there, for resume advice/help etc. Your resume should be 2 pages, and no more. And as brief and concise as possible.

Thank you very much. I have taken note of these suggestions and will incorporate them in my list of things to do and not do. First thing is get the resume done. Then hopefully I can worry about an interview.
