| My wife is a teacher and has received a similar complaint about her taking time off. My wife has had to take the time off because our son has been sick on and off, and the daycare won't take him within 24 hours of having a fever/vomiting. Occasionally she has to take off for personal/health reasons as well. Sometimes I take off too but it is financially beneficial to our family for her to take off when our son is sick. Teachers get a week or so worth of PTO. Given that our public school teacher's salary is garbage compared to other developed nations, when they exceed their PTO they are probably taking off for a good reason. If you feel that your child is not receiving proper education then it is your responsibility to supplement that education on your own. If you don't feel that the substitute teacher is contributing enough to your child's education then you must make up the difference, as any responsible parent would. Teachers aren't your personal servants. They have lives, and needs just like you do. Far too many people in this country have a difficult time dealing with this. Instead of taking the time to complain on the internet, or taking the time to make phone calls, use that time to further your child's education as you see fit. |

My wife stays at her school for almost 1-2 hours everyday more than she has too! I myself also teach and get in to school 30-45 minutes before I need too and leave generally 30-45 minutes after I am also allowed too. This doesn't count the hours I spend during the week grading and making lessons once I have come home or on the weekends! Is this the norm? I would hope so...but I know better. There are some who NEVER take any work home with them and work only at school. I wish that my conscience would allow that, but I know I would be doing a disservice to the kids if I did! | |

| Don't know where you got your misguided info but the person you are referring to happens to be a relative of mine and is in NO way a molester or stalker. I just LOVE how people react on public forums when they don't see eye to eye on topic discussions. To me, it's childish bullcrap. We are supposed to be adults and should be able to agree to disagree, not point fingers and accuse another of something which they have no facts to base it upon.
