atheists/agnostics/unaffiliated of So. Md.? Hello, I'm a reporter with Southern Maryland Newspapers, working on an article, from the local perspective, about data suggesting that the number of people who don't believe in God, or who aren't affiliated with a particular religion, is on the rise. If you fit into one of these categories and would like to participate, or if you know someone who might, I would be delighted to hear from you. I am on a deadline, so the sooner the better, if possible! Sincerely, Erica Mitrano Staff writer emitrano@somdnews.com 301-764-2851

I'd strongly prefer not, but we can work something out. I won't reveal anything about you without your permission. How about shooting me an email?

Chris, Sorry you didn't hear from me -- I thought I'd replied to everyone who wrote me about this. Did it bounce back? Would you be willing to try again (emitrano@somdnews.com)?

Firebrand, That's a question I've been asked a bunch of times while working on this story, and it puts me in a bit of a bind: As a reporter, I'm not really supposed to talk about myself, because the focus is on the people I'm talking to. I can say I'm definitely not out to make anyone look bad, but was inspired by the Pew Forum study showing that the number of people who don't associate with a particular religion is on the rise. If you're one of these nonreligious people, I'd love to talk to you.

| NPR had a session on this issue some time back. Seems there are lots of Americans who believe in a higher being and the need for an honorable life. They just don't believe in or subscribe to established religions as now practiced in the U.S. Being nondenominational does not mean they are atheist. In fact, Atheists, Wicca, Animists, etc. are on the decline in the U.S. (So where did all those liberal votes for THE WON come from? Idiocy appears to be on the rise.)
