Realtor to find a rental property?

Has anyone ever used a realtor to find a rental property in the area? And if so, any tips? We figure it might be nice to have a realtor on our side to negotiate rental terms, as we would need flexibility beyond 6 months.

Also, if anyone has a recommendation for an excellent e-Pro realtor, that would be great too!

I have not, but I would refer you to Conor Louhgrin at Century 21, I know him. Tell him I told you he is a good guy. He may not deal in those, but if not he will help find you someone who does.

Just had my first experience

Well funny that you ask you about a realtor finding you rental property.
They all will find you a rental property.
They will send you a list update everyday of what is available.
They Will suggest that you bid for the rental above the asking price for the rental to get it.
Mine did ask for me to bid higher I did but not as high as they wanted me too.
I didn't get the rental either.
I did get charged the application per person (Couple was double)
They do get a percentage from the listing realtor company if you rent the property is how they get paid.

My suggestion is too watch who is listing the property and contact that realtor or ask the realtor who is looking for you to only show what they have in their company.

I really do not know a whole lot about it because this was my first experience.

Hope this helps

If you are looking for an e-Realtor I would suggest Long & Foster. If the property is listed by a realtor, a realtor (or two) is getting paid. That will not come out of your side though. It will come from the listing side.
I can't imagine a realtor advising you bid higher in this market. There are a lot of rentals out there, so you shouldn't have an issue finding something that works for you.

My mother and I use the same realtor, and she handles my mothers rental property.
