what's the going rate for a college level tutor in St' Mary's?

I was asked by a friend to tutor them but they insist that I charge them the going rate.
I'm thinking $20 an hour

College of SoMD offers tutoring for free.

GED and SAT prep tutors run about $30-$40 an hour.

Other general subject tutors run $25-$35 an hour.

Language tutors run $20-$30 an hour.

However, if this is a friend, I would consider aiming a little lower than the average rate.

My daughter's tutor covers 6th grade through college. Her going rate is $20/hour with a two hour session each time they meet. It's well worth the twice a week visits since October because her math grade has gone from a D to a high B.

Several years back I worked at a math tutoring center with mostly elementary-middle school students and was paid $10/hr by the center. I imagine the parents paid more to the center than I was paid.
