They lost both parents today; one who doesn't deserve to live, and one who didn't deserve to die.
So horrible, how old are the girls? I hope they have a great support system. I can't even imagine being faced with what they've been forced to deal with.

It only costs that much because the process has been saddled with so many repetitive appeals. Open and shut cases like this one get a fast track, one appeal and get your needle before your victims next birthday.

Whoops, that should have the world "should" in there.

Amen. Those poor kids. They sure didn't deserve this.

I watched Killing Lincoln the other night and thought, wow, things have changed in the past 146 (?) years. Those that conspired with Booth and such were hung within 3 months - now the system is bogged down with so many civil liberties making it next to impossible to have justice be served. And one of those hung changed his mind and went to a bar and got drunk instead; he was still hung.

I'm okay with better protections against executing innocent people, but the opponents of the DP want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and are willing to completely rewrite the actual argument. How many of these discussions end up in the alleyway of deterrence? If knowing for sure you will ride Ol' Sparky deters someone, fine, but the whole reason for execution is to remove a non-human from the planet.

With proof like DNA, that can usually prove guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt; there should be no appeals process.
They leave the courtroom and are taken outside and shot or hung or publicly stoned until they die. Or given the juice in a chair in the courtroom.

End of scumbag. End of story.

It would probably cut back on crime!

Those have been my big three. DNA, confession, or video. Lacking those, you get your appeals. Have'em, you fry.

It would cut back on repeat offenders, anyway.

Damn.
I don't think so. From looking at the mug shot, he doesn't look like our mail man but I'm not 100% sure.
