MOM Gun Control in MD

I have real doubts about these poll results, taken from the Wash. Post. I think everyone that was on here hoping for CCW can kiss that goodbye.

Marylanders overwhelmingly support Gov. Martin O’Malley’s plan to force gun buyers to submit to some of the nation’s strictest licensing requirements, including fingerprinting and safety training, according to a new Washington Post poll.

Across the state, fully 85 percent back the governor’s licensing plan — the centerpiece of a broader gun-control bill — and 73 percent do so “strongly,” according to the poll.

Poll: Most Marylanders back O’Malley on gun laws but not on repeal of the death penalty - The Washington Post

Can't remember where I read it, but the poll was very biased. They only polled about 1500 people by phone and who know what area they chose.

Listening to the live Senate hearing on it today, there is an idiot named Frosh that gets up there and flat out lies or just hasn't a clue what he's talking about. And these are the people that are going to vote. Maryland will be one of these states with the worse guns laws in the country. Law abiding citizens will be made to jump through every hoop these idiots can think of, Omalley will be raking in all the money and spending it as he chooses, and the criminals will just sit back and laugh.

Yup, definitely biased. Just go to any firing range or gun shop/show in MD. They are always packed!

I think it will pass in the Senate - that means we have to stop it in the House.

Well, if the poll was taken in PG County or Baltimore, I can see it.

I was never asked anything....

The numbers are favor/oppose

Q: On another subject: Do you favor or oppose stricter gun control laws in this country? 63/34

Q: How about in Maryland, do you favor or oppose stricter gun control laws in the state? 62/36

Q: Specifically, would you favor or oppose prohibiting the sale of all handguns? 28/70%

Q: Would you support or oppose a law requiring placing an armed guard in every school in Maryland? 58/39

Q: Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on high-capacity ammunition clips, meaning those containing more than 10 bullets? 61/36

Q: Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons? 63/35

Q: Would you support or oppose a law requiring background checks on people buying guns at gun shows? 89/10

Q: One proposal to address the gun issue would require Maryland residents to apply for a license before purchasing any handgun. They would have to submit fingerprints to state police, complete an eight-hour gun safety course and pass a background check. Do you support or oppose such a licensing requirement in Maryland? 85/15
