I agree. Just because you think you live in a nice community doesn't mean your sheltered. Where do you think the "criminals" go? They don't stay in the bad community's, they go to the nice ones with nicer things.

Not always true

Not always do the bad ones go to the nicer 'Hoods'. I work in DC, in upper Northwest and the neighborhoods up there stay clean for the most part. I wondered why myself so started asking around. It was explained to me like this, everyone feels comfortable where they are, so not too many people try to go elsewhere and mess with stuff, they may be the ones getting messed with. I have lived in my house now in California for about two years, and I have heard of one or two bad things happening. I think a lot of the ones that have problems bring them on themselves. For instance I remember being young and really growing up in the 'hood' and the only ones we messed with were the ones that always messed with us. Now the same sort of hard-heads that I see growing up in my neighborhood are the ones that I make it a point to stop and throw a football with or something, just talk to them, they are bored. It is St. Mary's county's fault that kids are getting into trouble, there is nothing for them to do!!!!

It isn't up to the village to entertain the thugs.

I agree with you 100%. We provide nothing for our children, as far as activities, and programs go. This community could benefit from building more entertainment options then what is currently provided.

That's not true either.... There are lots of things to do.. Parents don't get invloved . If you get your kid into 4H, girl/boy scouts, gymnastics, junior dragsters or any numbers of the things around here, the likelyhood of your kid hanging out on Great Mils Rd. at 10pm on a Tuesday night are much smaller. Even if it's just a musical instrument, there is that big band thing they had at Chancellors Run Park last month. I think they should open another roller rink , I loved that when I was 11-14 and it never got me in to trouble.

Does the Roller rink in Leonardtown get too crowded?

I've never been but would like to take my daughter one saturday.
