Sorry but no. I used to live in Frederick and took the MARC train and drove. It took less time during peak rush hour to train than drive, and less time EARLY morning (4-5:00) to drive. I now take the bus from C.H. to Metro Center and then metro out to Silver Spring. It takes me 1 hour (5:00 leave time) to 2 hours (6:30-7:00 leave time)to drive in, and it takes 1.5 hours minimum to drive home regardless, and it takes me 1.5 hours to bus/metro anytime. Thus, the bus is as fast or faster than driving.

That may be for you, but when I drive it takes 1 15 minutes, but when I take the bus (I get on the bus the same time I leave for work when I carpool) it usually takes 1 hour and 30 to 45 minutes to get to work. I think a train would be faster than either bus or car because it would have its own dedicated route.

Trying to keep out PG County. I think that sounds racist. But that may not be what you intended to mean. But that's the way I took it.

I didn't say anything remotely "racist" in regards to PG County. I said I don't want a ghetto moving in the area I live when I left the "ghetto" for a reason. If you equate ghetto & racism, that's your bag. But I've seen white ghetto, black ghetto, hispanic ghetto, etc. It's not a race thing; it's a 'trash' thing, and I didn't buy my house with hopes of watching the property values plummet.

Fairly "Calvert"-centric, aren't we?

You realize that a train from PAX to DC doesn't have to go anywhere *near* Calvert in order to serve St. Mary's and Charles.

An idea...

How about putting the train right off of 231 where 381 comes out? (by that corner store. The train could run right up 381, connect to the tracks by the fire department (my apologies to those that don't know the area to which I refer). That area would kind of be a middle ground to start from...Thoughts?

I've said it twice and I'll say it again...
Get a train stop in Waldorf area that connects to DC metro first. That is the key.

I'm sure the MD government realizes you can't count on a military installation to provide consistent income to the surrounding population. (BRAC, contracts, downsizing, and the like) So anything further south of Waldorf is taking a huge chance....
