Last I heard they lost their contract with Boeing over a racism scandal (don't even mention Bob Black) and relocated to Houston where they're starting their own business.

I haven't seen one or heard one in years.

I remember when I would have to stop the car and wait for a covey to cross the road..
We have them out here in Drayden, hear them every now & then. But not in an abundance or a covey (I guess that is the same as a flock).

Was Bob White Someone famous in her time?

Every time those little birds would call each other, it sounded like Bob White or Bob Bob White..

Just thinking and missing my Grand Mother today. Thanks!
Maybe 7 years or so ago Quail Unlimited stocked some on land I had access to. A week later they came to hunt and most had disappeared. I think they thought we shot them all that week, which we did not. To the best of my knowledge, fox and hawks in this area have really taken a toll on them.

Lack of habitat is the reason there are no more quail. Farmers do not leave hedgerows in their fields anymore. Without this cover they are highly susceptible to predation .

Yup, the fox in the area have seriously depleted the quail population. Fox are like rats around here. They are everywhere.

I haven't hunted in several years. Is there a fox season?

Yep. no limit either. You can hunt them almost all year long, or actually all year, depending on where in MD you hunt.

From DNR's website:
Fox
(Red & Gray) Nov 1- Jan 19 In Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's, and Washington Counties. No Limit No Limit
Nov 15- Jan 31 In Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. No Limit No Limit
Aug 1- July 31 In Charles & Dorchester Counties. No Limit No Limit

Is Fox fur still worth anything.
When I was young we use to get $35 for a nice Fox pelt..
Then thanks to animal activist groups. People started throwing red paint on women wearing fur coats.

Save the Quail ! Wear Fox
