Remember Quail (Bob White) ?

Does anyone know where they went?

I miss seeing those cute little birds.

My Grand Mother called them Bob Whites..

Was Bob White Someone famous in her time?

Every time those little birds would call each other, it sounded like Bob White or Bob Bob White..

Just thinking and missing my Grand Mother today. Thanks!

But their is such a bird and it is from the Woodcock Family.

whip-er-will, the same thing right???

we used to hunt them back in the day, you could jump coveys of 20-30 birds, scare the shirt out of ya, and fly away before you could get a shot off. now you never see any.

I think the whip-er-will is an entirely different breed. Quail aka bob-white spend a lot of time on the ground, where as , the whip-er-will is mainly a tree dwelling bird.

Whip-er-wills come out at night. Quails (Bob-whites) are active during the day. Also, Whip-er-wills have three tones to its call (hence whip-er-will) and the Bob-white have only two.

This is true. But does anyone know where are the Bob whites now?

I haven't seen one or heard one in years.
