I am not exactly sticking up for the guy, but a Miata is very much so a sports car and one of the most popular race cars in the world. Sports cars are usually defined as being rear wheel drive with two seats(real seats). The Miata is one of the better balanced and great handling sports cars in the market.

When I saw new "Zs" sitting there with automatics, I was glad I wasn't a car salesman. I think I'd be tempted to forgo the comission and slap the customer if they wanted an auto.

If you say so.

My Honda would drive right over a little Miata.

As far as Miatas go, they are the moust sought-after platform for autocross racing due to their perfect balance and excellent handling out of the box. Power is so-so, but the power:weight ratio makes up for it.

MazdaSpeed is a marketing scheme ran by a bunch of tools. The MazdaSpeed Protege comes factory with something like 8 PSI, which it utilizes enough to barely outrun stock Civics.

Crank up the boost a bit to 10PSI and the engine will blow sky-high. They didn't forge the internals on a factory boosted car!!

F*ck MazdaSpeed.
