Question Chesapeake Bay Bridge Walk?

I've heard rumors that the anuual bridge walk may have been
canceled due to security issues? Does anyone have any updated information regarding the annual walk?

I'd be more inclined to believe it was b/c of construction if it is in fact cancelled. I've made two round-trip crossings of the bridge in the last two weeks, and the west bound side is down to two (outside) lanes with jersey walls up.

I did hear it was cancelled this year, but not really security reasons, but construction, since they had to resurface again what they already resurfaced once before (last year's screw-up), the construction will not be completed on time. They thought that there would be a huge traffic mess if they went ahead with the walk. Understand the many merchants were'nt to happy about the cancellation.

What I wanna' know is who the Einstein is that thought of having a "walk" across a damn bridge. "There is nowhere else to walk, we must be allowed to inconvenience the rest of the world."
