Most of the people I work with lives close enough to work to only take part of a day off. It's just for us schmucks who commute long distance.

Same here, or I get asked alot - why not just use my doctor 4 blocks down... they can't grasp that if I'm really sick I don't feel like spending a few hours just to get to the drs. office and a few hours back..I'd much rather have my drs. and my dentist close to home.

I said I was sick.

Got a weird look from my boss the next day when I came in with a new perm though. , but I justed smiled and proceeded to my desk.
