Call Lincoln Property Management Company on base to try and get some answers. They have a website, but I haven't found it too informative. (It does contain contact info). www.lincolnmilitary.com/patuxentriver/

I can't stand this housing, I am in Conrad Heights hating it, this is the smallest, crappiest housing I have ever been in...
We have NEVER lived in base housing. We didn't quality until the boy's were born in '86 anyway.... by that time we owned a home.

I have been in conrad heights housing, about 8 years ago. I thought it was nice then. If it's been kept up, as it should be, it can't be that bad.

but since I read in a later post that you have back issues I feel for you. some.

Yes, I think their will be new housing built, but count on it costing you more since a private contractor has been hired to support housing needs/repairs. Watch that electric bill, it's not going to be 'free' anymore!!

And don't anyone jump on me for saying it's free. We all know how the 'privilege' is abused.

And even though I cannot work, the government doesn't think they need to give me disability. A single income doesn't go all that far, that is why we do not move out. I have been debating this, but BAH sure isn't a whole heck of alot, and you can't find much to rent in those price ranges. That is why I was curious if anyone knew of anything soon to be built, if that is not bad, perhaps I would hold off on moving out...
I believe Shepard Terrace are one level units. Have you contacted housing to see if you could be moved due to your disabilty. Also It is safe to say that any new housing built in the coming years will be of the townhouse type.

You call it crappy? Like Elaine said, I have seen and lived in worse! If they say they will move you as soon as they can then what's the problem? Why didn't you just rent an apartment or house until one of the units you want was available? You didn't "have" to take the unit in Conrad Heights.

Shepard Terrace is officer's housing. My husband is an E6, I don't know if we could be moved into there, I have never asked though, so I don't know, perhaps we could be moved due to my disability.
I would assume also, anything new being built would be town house style, but doesn't a percentage need to be handicapped accessible units?

Which is my point exactly. There should be units available for those with disabilities. You need to contact housing. Although accessible may mean a wheelchair ramp and a lift chair for the stairs. They would be able to answer that for you.

Nope, that website sure isn't informative. I did call the office though to see if they could answer my questions. No one was in the office that was able to answer them for me, love having a housing management team in another state, they know so well how things are around here! Anyway, they did take down my email, let's see what I hear for an answer. I am going to see if anyone still works in the housing office here on base (with this new company, I don't know how that works anymore), see if they can tell me anything.

We made a rather hasty decision to move in. We had been living out of suitcases for nearly a month, and we severely frustrated (we moved from California), and I had a broken ankle at the time, I did not want to take the time just then to look around at other stuff.

You should count your lucky stars it only took a month to get housing here. When I moved here in 89 we waited 14 months to get substandard housing and another 7 months after that to get GF. One month is really no wait at all.
