Question on Hollywood Mill I’m curious about the old mill that at the head of Mill Cove in St. Mary’s County off the Patuxent River. The foundations and sluiceway are still visible but not much else. There was a pond created to service it and is accessible from By the Mill Road in Hollywood although it’s on private property. The stream from the pond is the dividing line between Hollywood and California.
Old maps show a road that passed by the Mill which is overgrown now. At the tidal part of Mill Cove there is an old overgrown road that runs along the Hollywood side and some speculate that this may have been a tow path for boats coming up to the Mill. That road is not on any maps I’ve seen.
What years did the Mill Operate? Was Mill Cove navigable to the Mill? Was this road in Hollywood a tow path? Are there any records of it? |
