Remember, you NEVER hear about the good things that may happen in any given school. Go and visit each of your options and look for yourself then make your decision. Good Luck.

good schools

i been sub teaching for over a year now, i have taught in all 3 middle schools in st marys county, esperanza( great mills) is the best of the bunch, avoid spring ridge(lex park).
and piney point elementary is also very nice, ive taught at green holly(okay, high facilities for the special ed if need that) and not sure about high schools but some great tech ed classes have been incorporated for all with pre college programs ( college type programs in nursing and criminal justice to give a head start )in this area. so hope that helps a lil but the areas around here are all like one stop light away from each other so youd have to ask what the schools are for the area your in. every stop light off the main road-- 235 is a new town from the base down to mechanisville

base is awesome though and the water circling round this ccounty is awesome. ive lived her about 2 years, and fishing and crabing is amazing here. so i hope you have a good transfer to the area.

bull shiat...You're not a sub. I'm a sub and it would be impossible for you to ever help those children out in the classroom with the way you're spelling. So don't give us substitutes a bad reputation ya fake!

OK, which is it, are you a crack dealer, or a murderous thief? Those are about the only crowds that Waldorf is drawing now... And you want to send your kids there? Someone should call Social Services on you...
Ok....from my teenagers point of view about the High Schools

Great Mills High, also known as Ghetto Mills, has too many fights and the teachers "just don't give a sh!t about anyone but the smart kids"....have to agree with MysticalMom....avoid it like the plague

Leonardtown High(don't think there is a nickname?).....drama, drama, drama....emotionally draining for a teenager

Chopticon High....also known as Cow pie high....farmers, not too much drama, not too much fighting, a lot of "rich kids"
Do you really think that Chopticon has more "rich kids" than Leonardtown High? Take a drive through the student parking lot of Leonardtown. The kids are driving better cars than most adults who work for a living...

elisa- there is also margaret brent miuddle school- maybe that's further north than where you've taught. what are your opinions on MB and Chopticon HS?

to anyone else- with the new subdivision going in next to Persimmon Hills- where do you think those children will go to ES, MS and HS? Pers.Hills is bussed to Dent, Brent & Chopt. HS.

I would have to say, and I think Baswm would be with me on this, the BEST elementary school in Calvert is St. Leonard Elementary, I just can not rave enough about the school, the staff and the students. The school districting in Calvert is tricky though almost like someone followed a stray dog to make the boundaries, but if you have any choice I would DEFINATELY look into St. Leonard Elementary.
