If the story was this short it is no wonder I didn't hear it on the news.

I understood the video footage had their son in the back seat of the police car. Who knows if he is being held just for questioning or if he is a suspect.

I noticed the report said two homicides so I wonder if the son killed the robbery suspect?

From the little bit that I've been able to piece together. I suspect the Mom was killed by the robber and the robber was killed by the son.

If he just shot somebody, self defense or not, he would be taken into custody for questioning. I wonder how much longer it will be before they come off more information , but MAYBE, the assailant didn't act alone and they are still trying to apprehend another or others.

More Info was released...

How awful... I'm glad they let the son go back home to be with his father.

Police said officers went to the 13500 block of Piscataway Drive about 7:40 p.m. for a report of a breaking and entering.

When officers arrived they discovered two homicide victims and an adult male inside the house. Police said one victim was 59-year-old Patricia Caniglia, the female resident of the house, and the other was the apparent suspect of the breaking and entering and the person who shot and killed Caniglia.

Investigators said the suspect entered the home and confronted Caniglia. At some point the suspect shot and killed Caniglia and then turned on her 24-year-old son, Antonio Caniglia, who was in another part of the house.

Police said Caniglia's son shot and killed the suspect, who has yet to be identified.

Antonio Caniglia's son was taken into custody by investigators, interviewed and later released. He was not charged.
