Closings and Cancellations ** Weekend Updates for MAR 1-2 **

St. Mary's County Public Schools will be closed Friday, February 28, 2003. Code 3 for employees.

Charles County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003. It is a code red for employees.

Calvert County Public Schools are closed for Friday February 28, 2003. Employees are on Code Yellow.

All campuses of the College of Southern Maryland will be closed February 28, 2003 due to inclement weather. Please call the weather hotline at 301-369-1999 or 1-800-650-4023 or visit the Web site for the most current information regarding weather or emergency closing of the college.

There have been a number of changes regarding activities for Charles County Public Schools this weekend. All activities will be held this weekend with the exception of the following:

- The Southern Maryland Computer Bowl has been postponed until Saturday, March 8.

- There will be no CCPS spring sports tryouts. The start of the spring sports season has been postponed until Monday, March 3.

- All other activites will be held as scheduled. We will notify you of any further changes.

Updates for Calvert County Public Schools Activities

All school related activities for Friday, February 28, 2003 have been cancelled. The Capital Steps performance scheduled for the Mary D. Harrison Cultural Arts Center will go on as scheduled.
The Artist Showcase scheduled for Sunday at the Mary D. Harrison Cultural Arts Center is also still on.

Otherwise, school related activities for this weekend are as follows:

District Activities:

- The Regional Wrestling Tournament is on as scheduled. Weigh-ins starts at 8:00am.
- The SMECO Computer Bowl has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 8.
- The History Fair has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Plum Point Middle School.

Spring Practice:

Some high school spring practices will begin tomorrow. Please contact the school today for more details. At this time, we do have the following information on spring practices:
Northern High School:

- Baseball tryouts are postponed...there will be a meeting on Monday
- Softball tryouts are on as scheduled in the gym from 10-12
- Boys Lacrosse tryouts are on as scheduled in the gym from 12-2
- Girls Lacrosse tryouts are on as scheduled in the gym from 2-4
- Tennis is on as scheduled in the small gym from 2-4

School Activities:

- Mutual Elementary School: Winter Festival rescheduled for March 7.
- Calvert Middle School: Basket Bingo rescheduled for April 25.
- Mill Creek Middle School: Parent Scheduling Information Night rescheduled for March 5.
- Windy Hill Middle School: No Saturday School on March 1.
- Calvert High School: Youth League wrestling on as scheduled
- Patuxent High School: Snow Ball dance rescheduled for March 8.
