This so-called directive is from the Democratic controlled legislature. I shall remember this is November when I vote.
Who the h... is Town Creek mosquito control and who gave them the authority to demand payment?

Seriously, I don't think this is legal. If you perform a service and I did not ask for it, I call it a radom act of kindness.

I actually called the Hollywood Mosquito office yesterday. She gave me the Town Creek rep's name & #. She didn't want to have anything to do with it. I have always paid it in the past, but I took offense at the way this lady is trying to collect so I'm not paying it. The best part of the "invoice" is they think my hubby's first name is HOMAS. That's what I'm calling him from now on.

Exactly how would HOMAS be pronounced....?

Paula has been collecting for years. If you recall, last year she sent out the request for $ and asked if anyone was willing to volunteer to take over the responsibility. Perhaps it is a new person collecting and is using a new approach. I don't agree with the way it is presented, but Paula served her time and this is a thankless job.
I am happy to have the service and pay the fee. We live at the end of the road and the truck backs down the hill to get to our house. If we did not pay, then we would not be on the list and would not receive the service.
A friend lives on the corner of a street and does not pay because they receive the benefit regardless (b/c of location).
They came between 9 - 10:30 p.m. every Tuesday last year.

I talked with the Hollywood contact and I got pretty much the same story. I have requested the exemption forms. When I receive them I will submit and also get a copy of the original billing and the exemption to Roy Dyson. See if he can do anything about this.

I don't mind making it optional at the start. I now have to, along with others, go through extra BS to get exempted.

It didn't sound like you could opt out easily, but perhaps that's what I'll do. I really don't have any mosquito problems in the front yard and there's no way the spray could reach the back. Collecting from neighbors is not a job I would want. Too many people that are like me. Complainers.

I've had the sprayers come down my street every year for as long as I can remember and I have never been billed or asked to pay for it (usually weekly, like a Tuesday evening). Isn't this what some of our property taxes go for?

I have lived in Town Creek for nine years and I have never paid the bill, which I do receive hand delivered in my mailbox almost every year. It’s up to you to pay. I cannot imagine the spraying makes that much of a difference. Not a ruse because they do come and spray. I always read it as optional.
