I am sure I know you or your family then. My mother was a Solomons Island native. My Great Grandmothers house was right across the street from Our Lady.

Absolutely BEST hush puppies in the Universe(sorry Petey) are at Wilkerson's Resturant in Colonial Beach

Absolutely BEST hush puppies in the Universe are not in Maryland, they are in Georgia where the hushpuppy was invented. It just so happens that my Uncle Eldon is the fish fry/hushpuppy champion of the world. Ok, just Jefferson County but his are awesome.

Hushpuppies are NEVER round, they must be cut from a thin board and slid into the grease, they must be removed promptly when they bob to the surface.
