Thank God. too, it was an exciting ride.. Left at 2:30 to pick up my daughter hoping to beat the storm, when we got to the drop off point we had to wait almost an hour for her friends mom to get there, not the moms fault.. then the race was on.. All I wanted was to get across the 301 bridge before the storm got in.. after that I could careless about the weather. I made it the bridge from Tappahannock in record time, and JUST as I was passing the Toll booths I felt my first drop of rain.. pulled off into a drive through liquor store, put on all the rain gear, and other then a drop here and there an uneventful ride home.. got home, and the lightning and thunder started as soon as I got in the house..

Oh Pete. you forgot Bluetooth, I've got Bluetooth on the bike now and it works GREAT!!

Took a call from Tracey 10 miles N of T-nock, doing about 70.. she was checking in seeing how I was doing, and telling me I was in front of the storms..

I'll tell you what was sad.. I go to leave and my little buddy Seth (4) decides he wants to watch me leave, I go to start the bike I turn around and he's got his hands over his ears, and not a nice look on his face.. my daughter trying to convince him that he didn't need to cringe and cover his ears didn't help.. and even as I was pulling away, he still wasn't sure if it was safe.

Maryland doesn't seem to be prepared for any type of weather.....I come from Illinois in a small farm town and tornados were twice a week, thunderstorms with 40 mile per hour winds, and snow on a good day 3 feet....this was childs play, actually sat on my porch and enjoyed the nice cool weather....

It is hard to be prepared for something that is not of the norm, but we try.

Suspected tornado, severe thunderstorm cause damage in Maryland

Quote:
SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) — About 9,700 customers remained without power Friday morning after a severe storm swept through Maryland Thursday evening, uprooting trees, damaging homes and spawning at least one suspected tornado.

Most of the customers still without power were in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties, according to the utility's website.

The suspected tornado also was in Anne Arundel County, near Severna Park, said James Brotherton, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling, Va. It touched down about 6:35 p.m.

Pam Jordan, a spokeswoman for the Anne Arundel County Emergency Operations Center, said a tornado touched down on either side in Cattail Creek in Severna Park.

Damage was reported in the lower Magothy Beach area of Severna Park, according to Rhonda Wardlaw, a spokeswoman for Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens. At least five homes were struck by downed trees in that vicinity, police said.

"We have two confirmed touch downs (of tornadoes)," Wardlaw told The (Baltimore) Sun. "We don't know the extent of the damage."

...

In Prince George's County, Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said Bowie sustained the worst damage in the county, with about two dozen homes with minor to moderate structural damage.

A spotter's equipment recorded a wind gust reaching 66 mph at 6:09 p.m. near U.S. 50 in Bowie, where dime-size hail also was reported, the weather service said.
That's not that far away.
