| my average speed for a 20 mile ride would be around 18-19 mph but thats on a road bike (ten speed type) on my mountain bike on the road i average about 15. Most kids dont work that hard so i would guess 10 or so on average. I want to say my downhill max was around 45, heading down the hill to the warf in leonardtown.

I go a lot slower down the hills than I used to since I lost weight. Not as much gravity I guess. | |

| Just recently, I was able to average 16 mph. Pretty good for me, since I just started riding at the end of August ![]()

Me on my big heavy Schwinn: 8 - 12 mph Me on my touring bike: 10 - 15 mph Riders on an ordinary club road ride: 15 - 20 mph Riders race-training in a paceline: up to 45 mph I suppose a tough little kid on a super-cheap Walmart or Kmart POS could do about 7 - 10 mph.
