Electrician Needed - Install One Wall Receptacle

I need to have a licensed electrician (I don't mess with electricity!) install a wall receptacle. We have a center isle with a sink, dishwasher, etc. There is power running to the dishwasher (I can see the wire, etc. when I pull out the dishwasher). The wife just wants to be able to use her mixer, etc. next to the sink. The wife would be happy with having a plug installed along the back of the cabinet. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Code requires there to be a separate circuit for the dishwasher. So any outlets/switches would have to be run independent of that. Do you have access to the floor under the island from the basement? Either the floor, or the basement ceiling will have to be cut to run new wires. I went thru my floor when I remodeled my kitchen...and I'm glad I did. I found other problems.

If you plan on living in the house for quite some time yet, I say screw the code, add a box and run power from the dishwasher outlet. If the house should fail home inspection because of it, sell it "as is" or take the outlet out again before putting it on the market. Sometimes it's easier to ask forgiveness rather than permission.

And now that I think about it, if the island is 48" or larger, code requires there to be an outlet on it anyway. again, seperate from the dishwasher.

Do it yourself. get a "How to" book from lowe's. Turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher and run the wire yourself. Those how to books tell you how far away stuff has to be, what size wire...everything. Since you have a sink near it, you'll have to use a GFCI outlet. No big deal. If ya get zapped, eh, it stings for a little bit. No zapps though if you turn off power at the circuit breaker.

Hell, i had to run a 240 line for my dryer AND connect it at the Panel...something that I'VE never done before. I used to get nervous just flipping the circuit breakers. I'm a pro now!

Funny story there though...the g/f knew what I was doing and all of the sudden showed up at my house. She had been calling all day to check on me and got scared when I never answered the phone. never dawned on her that cordless phones have to draw power from SOMEWHERE.

Fortunately, I have crawl space under the house. The wire runs through the floor (dishwasher). I probably could figure it out myself but I just don't feel like messing with it ( not to mention I don't mess with electricity and brakes). I would rather just get someone else to figure it out and do what is necessary to meet code.

Thanks for your suggestions.

There are lots of licensed electricians in the area.

My mother just had Adrian Hall install a heated fan/light fixture, adding a seperate circuit to the panel and only charged her a buck twenty-five.

Peace of mind at a small price.

Noppa! I let it ring about 8 times. I'll try again tomorrow. They are probably very busy.
