I understand your interpretation of driving rules, but it is not supported in Maryland law: Quote:

| Taken out of page 58 of the Maryland Drivers Handbook: Left Turn: Four-Lane, Two-Way to Four-Lane, Two-Way Get into the left lane on your side of the highway well ahead of the turn. Signal your intention to turn for at least 100 feet. Yield to oncoming traffic including bicycles. Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Turn into the left lane going your way. Don’t cut the corner or turn so wide that you get into the right lane going your way. Quote:

Stop — Come to a complete stop before reaching the intersection, stop line or crosswalk and remain stopped as long as the signal is red. You may turn right at a red signal after coming to a complete stop, unless there are signs posted at the intersection, which read “No Turn on Red.” You may turn left at a red signal after coming to a complete stop from a one-way street to another one-way street, unless there are signs posted at the intersection, which read “No Turn on Red.” When turning on a red signal, you must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and all other traffic. You should have read further. Page 74 of the Maryland Drivers Handbook. The last sentence leaves little to the imagination, all means all. There was also an article in the ebnterprise 2 weeks after the original letter that clarified the right turn on red. As stated by the MVA in that article, all right turns on red on Rt 235 from any other street require yielding to traffic when posted. Be safe out there! | |

| Crap. I don't know what to do when I'm turning south from 4 onto 235 at the intersection where Wawa is. If you stop at the "yield" sign, the people behind you get pissed. If you go, you're likely to get smooshed because of the people heading south on 235 that want to get in the right lane to go into Wawa. I got a loud honking today because I wouldn't proceed at the "yield" because there was traffic coming. I HATE that intersection.

| Light blue Crown Victoria, blue and red lights inside the windshield and rear window. Maryland plates KDT 024. Hey, #######. I know that there's no traffic on 235 that early in the morning (6:30) but there's no reason to gun it from the Tides to the light by Taco Bell. You had to be doing at least 100, because I was doing 75 behind you and you were still pulling away. I suppose being off-duty and having your wife with you isn't enough reason to speed, you were also jabbing your jaw on your cell phone. ####ing cop thinks he can do 100 on 235 because he's in an unmarked car. Where's the emergency? You're not going to respond with your wife in the car. Get a ####ing life, pig #####. |
