Is this going around?

Hi! My husband has had a sore throat for five days and nothing helps it. I looked at his throat and it isn't red. Odd. Our daughter caught a cold that developed into an ear infection. This was three weeks ago. She still has a lot of "goo" in her chest that you can hear when she coughs.

It just seems like this stuff is hanging on for a long time. Just wondering if others have heard of this stuff going around. Thanks!

I'd get it checked to rule out strep. There is a form that doesn't have the usual symptoms. My son had a scratchy throat (not red) that went away. Then he got headaches real bad. I took him in and they tested for strep and it was positive even though his throat wasn't inflamed. I've had strep of the blood. Only symptom was a fever that wouldn't go away.
