    I Hate Summers Here

I feel like we got screwed out of spring. All it did in April and May was rain. Then it got hot and uncomfortable.

Two wrecks on the way home today

During the last half of my drive home from work on MD-5 i counted 51 dump trucks. With every bump in the road these trucks drive over they drop rocks all over the roads. I wonder how many accidents and damage all those dump trucks have caused to cars over the years. I've only lived in the area...

    Pokemon - GO Mania

I can't complain, i've made 24% profit off Nintendo stock in only one week's time. Supposedly going to announce a partnership with McDonald's soon and the game isn't even available in Japan yet. More profits to come...

    Water Bill

Yeah, they called both fees slightly different names but they both seem to serve the same purpose of helping to clean and restore the bay, or at least that's how both are justified.

    Water Bill

Hmm, I pay it on my county water bill and in my annual property tax bill. So I guess I get hit twice. Wonder how they determined that only 10 of the 20+ Maryland counties would pay that restoration fee. None of those other counties have public water and sewer systems?

    Water Bill

Why is there a $5 Bay Restoration fee on the water bill when Charles county residents already pay a bay fee in the form of Watershed Protection Restoration Program fee that is paid on annual property tax bills?

Many cutting the cord on cable/satellite

Verizon FIOS has a triple-play package for $69.99 right now. If you no longer have a contract with Comcast tell them Verizon is offering you a better deal and see if they will work with you at all. http://www.techbargains.com/verizon-fios-bundle-deals

Geothermal vs High Efficiency Heat Pumps

I can't comment on the Geothermal units, but if you go heat pump I would suggest replacing your oil furnace with a new one. This way your backup heat is oil. I wouldn't want my backup heating element to be another electric source. I had my heat pump system replaced last year, but its only a 13...

Many cutting the cord on cable/satellite

Good price-haggling. A lot of consumers just stick with what they have rather than calling them and telling them you will bring your business elsewhere and getting a better deal. I told T-mobile I was going to switch to their cheaper Metro PCS provider because I don't use much data or minutes...

    Lets talk washing machines

I just fold up a hand towel and wedge it in the door so it stays open enough to dry out. This way the door isn't wide open.

    Lets talk washing machines

Leaving the door open after washing so it can dry out is definitely the best way. If you close all that moisture inside then it will smell and get moldy over time. I have no problems with my front load HE washer.

Many cutting the cord on cable/satellite

Cable TV is just too expensive...you have to pay a monthly fee for each cable box, you have to pay broadcast fees, HD fees, state/local taxes, etc. With Netflix, Sling, and Amazon Prime you pay a set fee, no taxes, and can watch on any device. Netflix you can share your login with others and...

    Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater

Sure thing, i think the month of July will be a better indicator for me since the new water heater didn't get installed until 10 days into June. But i'll let everyone know what the June bill looks like.

    Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater

Got the GE Geospring installed yesterday. So far so good. The compressor sounds like one on a window air conditioning unit. But still quieter than when the furnace runs. I don't hear it upstairs at all and it doesn't really bother me. It has been keeping the utility room nice and cool. It...

Hate to be stationed in Japan

Its cyclical. Every couple years curfew and other heavy restrictions are put on personnel stationed in Japan. Military gets too caught up in treating grown adults like children and restricting what they can and can't do.
