USN sailors sue Japan for lying about radiation

http://rt.com/usa/news/sailors-japan...radiation-878/

American sailors have filed a lawsuit against the Japanese government for allegedly lying about the health risks they faced while assisting in rescue efforts after last year’s Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Crewmembers from the USS Ronald Reagan filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in San Diego, California this week in an attempt to hold Japan accountable for any long-term damage they’ll caused during “Operation Tomadachi,” the spring 2011 relief effort that sent sailors near the coast of Japan to assist in the days after an earthquake and subsequent tsunami ravaged the island nation and caused a level 7 meltdown at three reactors in the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

It's a pretty interesting action. I am surprised they are only suing the Japanese Government and not the U.S. Government for the same thing. Of course, this is not an endorsement of the lawsuit, just an observation.

Really? So only 8 of 5,500 soldiers are filing suit against Japan, not to mention all those military families that were in the area.

Hmmmm....as a sailor, soldier, airman or Marine, don't you belong to the US government and if the US government send you to Japan or sends you to Afghanistan, do you really have a choice?

Thinking about this makes me think of the Vietnam Veterans who suffered from Agent Orange...should they sue Vietnam? The Desert Storm Vets exposed to depleted uranium rounds, should they sue Iraq? Oh how about the soldiers stationed in (just picking a country) let's say Germany, who married a local chick, got her to the states and then got divorced...should they sue Germany?

Hmmm, the possibilities are endless.
