Bike bravery...

...I swear, you're all brave as hell or just crazy.

I'm going to the greenhouse, 6 am this morn, I'm about alone on the road. Up ahead, I see, right away, a bike coming down the hill towards me, plain as day, you can't NOT see this guy; bright headlight, no sun glare, no traffic and up on my right is a car at the stop sign waiting for me to pass so he can turn left, the direction bike man is going.

I go past and in rear view this ####ing guy pulls out right in front of the bike. How could he NOT see him?

Bike man, being not too crazy slows quickly, asshat pulls in front of him and up the hill they go, bike waving his arms like 'WTF????' No clue if car man even knows he almost killed that guy.

I have no idea why you are all not dead.

There's nothing us bikers can do to prevent stupidity or negligence from another party. Taking evasive action can only be used when foreseen...

You develop a zen like "zone of awarenes". You read slight body movements to predict the actions of other drivers.
Hopefully you survive the first time somebody looks directly at you, and you realize the other person doesn't see you.

I ride like I am invisable and assume every car approching an intersection or in the next lane doesn't see me and is about to yank it over in front of me.

Why I like to maintain a "positive speed differential" LOL
The driver I just passed is aware of me and I won't be in anyboy's blind spot for long.

I hate tinted windows, because I really like to get eye to eye connection.. the one thing that saved me down here when a woman pulled out in front of me. I watched for her eyes, and not only did I not see her eyes, she never turned her head in my direction.. before she pulled out in front of me I had slowed to maybe 20 - 25, so when she did pull out, I slammed on the brakes, and stopped about 3 feet short.

Did I tell you how much I hate tinted windows?

That and watching the tires.. are they rolling? Which way are they turning?
